Lesson 19.2- Repeated addition as multiplication

Learning Objective-Students will be able to understand the concept of

repeated addition as multiplication.

Explanation-

 When we have groups of same number of objects or a

number repeatedly added, instead of using repeated addition we

use a shorter method called multiplication.

 Repeated addition can be represented in another way as
multiplication.

 The answer obtained after multiplying two numbers is called
as product.

 Ex:

Here in this example the group of book is repeated.

We need to see how many objects are there in each group and
the total number of groups.

So multiplication statement is written as:-

number of objects in each group × total number of groups = total number of
objects
