Read the following lines:

• A little black ant found a large grain of wheat.

• Tom worked hard.

• Last year, I travelled to Japan.

In the above lines, the words found, worked and

travelled show us that the action has already taken

place. These are the verbs that show simple past

tense.

Simple Past Tense is used to show that an action or

event that took place in the past.
