Characteristics of wind:
Wind has two characteristics:
1. Wind direction
2. Wind Speed
These two characteristics of wind plays important role in formation of natural phenomena like
thunderstorms, cyclones, tornado, etc.
Wind direction:
The direction of wind is measured with the instrument called wind vane or weathervane. Wind’s
name is given on the basis of their direction of origin like north-east winds, west wind, etc.
Wind speed:
The wind speed is measured with the instrument called anemometer.
Note:
• Wind always blows from the region of high pressure to region of low pressure.
