Subject- Economics Ch- 2 People as Resources

1. Role of Education

 Increases efficiency and productivity.
 Reduces inequalities and helps in overall development.
 Government schemes promote elementary education (e.g., Sarva Shiksha
Abhiyan).

2. Role of Health

 A healthy individual is more productive.
 Public health services are crucial in building human capital.

3. Unemployment in India

 Types:

 Seasonal Unemployment: In agriculture, work is available only in
certain seasons.

 Disguised Unemployment: More people are employed than needed,
especially in agriculture.

 Educated Unemployed: No jobs available due less job openings, lack
of quality of the passed out graduates, slow economic growth in the
secondary and tertiary sector.

 Impact:

 Wastage of manpower resource.

 Increase in poverty.

 Lower economic growth.
