Introduction of the Poem
From the title of the Poem-‘Rain on the Roof’, we can make out that the poem is about the
rain. The poet is telling us about the memories he has of the rain. The sound of the raindrops
falling on the roof of his house brings back sweet memories of the past.

KEYPOINTS

 The writer is lying on his bed.
 He heard the sound of the clouds.
 Suddenly the quietness of the environment disappeared.
 It started raining lightly.
 The roof is of tin, so rain creates beautiful sound.
 The sound echoed in heart of the poet.
 He remembered a number of things.
 Some memories are sweet and some are sad.
 The sound of rain appeared to be a bliss to the poet.
