INTRODUCTION:
A compound adjective is formed when two or more adjectives are joined together to
modify the same noun. These terms should be hyphenated to avoid confusion or
ambiguity. As shown in the picture above, a small business owner (no hyphen) means
that the owner (person) is small in size, whereas a small-business owner (hyphenated,
compound) means that the person owns a business, which is small in size.
What is Compound adjectives?
Compound adjectives are adjectives that are made up of two or more words usually
with hyphens(-) between them.
Examples:
An English-speaking country.
A time-saving gadget.
A thirty-floor building.
