INTRODUCTION:
The story is introduced with the first character, a policeman making his
rounds on the dark, windy, rainy streets of New York, rattling door knobs
as he checks everything is secure on his beat. It is here we meet the
second character, as the policeman approaches a man standing in a
doorway of a hardware store. We will be re-reading "After Twenty
Years," a short story written by O. Henry found on pages 155-160 in
Language of Literature. It takes place around 1903 on a street corner in
NYC. Two lost friends are scheduled to twenty after a separation of
twenty years. Today we will use a Mind -map before reading the
chapter.
