           Home Assignment – 4

SUBTOPIC: Right-angled triangles and Pythagoras property

           1. Find x in the following figures.

           2. The lengths of two sides of a triangle are 13 cm and 17 cm. between what two measures
should the length of the third side fall?

           3. The diagonals of a rhombus measure 16 cm and 30 cm. Find its perimeter.

           4. A tree is broken at a height of 5 m from the ground and its top touches the ground at 12 m
from the base of the tree. Find the original height of the tree.

           Answer Key:

                     0
               1. 60 (Hint: use isosceles angle property and linear pair)

                     0
55 (Hint: use isosceles and exterior angle property)
               2. 17 – 13 = 4 & 17 +13 = 30
The length of third side should fall between = 4 and 30
               3. Hint: diagonals of rhombus bisect each other at right angles. Use Pythagoras theorem to
get the length of each side. Ans: 68 m
               4. (Hint : use Pythagoras theorem) 18m
