Things required- Three test tubes, three clean iron nails, boiled water, tap water, oil
               anhydrous calcium chloride.

               Method-

In three test tubes (labelled as A, B and C), we put three iron nails.

In the test tube ‘A’, we add some tap water.

In the test tube ‘B’ we put anhydrous calcium chloride to absorb the moisture.

In the third test tube, we put boiled water and add oil to prevent the mixing of air.

Now close all the test tubes with stopper and keep them for few days.

               Observation-

Only in the test tube- A, iron nail has developed rust.

               Inference-

Only test tube A gets water as well as oxygen, so rust has formed.

This experiment proves for rusting both oxygen and water are required.
