NUTRITION IN AMOEBA
Amoeba is a single–celled microscopic organism found in the pond water.
• It has no fixed shape.
• Amoeba has a cell membrane, a rounded, dense nucleus and many small food
vacuoles in its cytoplasm.
• It has finger-like projections called Pseudopodia.
Functions of pseudopodia
(i) Amoeba engulfs its food with the help of pseudopodia. They stretch around the
food and fuse with each other.
(ii) Helps in locomotion.
