Digestion in Human
The digestive system of human beings is well-developed and is a complex organ
system.
It consists of mouth, oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine,
rectum and anus.
It is also called as – Alimentary canal or Digestive tract or gastrointestinal tract.
It is about 8-10 metre long in adults.
Different glands also play an important role in the process of digestion.
Glands, such as, Salivary gland, Pancreas, and Liver.
Role of various organs in digestion of human beings
1. Mouth
Digestion of food starts in the mouth (Also known as buccal cavity).The food is
ingested through the mouth.
