                                              Subtopic: Cyclone

           Cyclones:
Powerful circular storms formed over low pressure areas are known as cyclones.
 Cyclones are usually formed in warm and wet conditions which are generally near
                         the equator.
 Cyclones are also known as hurricanes (in Atlantic and North-east Pacific Ocean)
                         or typhoons (North-west Pacific Ocean).
 The centre of the cyclone is also known as ‘eye’.

With the help of satellites and Cyclone Detection Radars, the Meteorological Department can
locate and track an approaching cyclone and issue a cyclone alert 48 hours in advance.

In India, whole coastline of India is vulnerable to cyclones. The east coastline is more vulnerable
to cyclones than the west coastline.

Effect of cyclones near Coastal areas:

              1. It causes floods.
              2. Uproots of trees
              3. Collapses of houses.
              4. Heavy Loss of life.
              5. Disruption of communication
