6. Frequency: Frequency is defined as the total number of oscillations in one second.
7. Length of the pendulum: It is defined as length of the string from rigid support to the
centre of the bob.
Factors on which Time-period of Pendulum Depends:
I. Length of the string: Time period of pendulum is directly dependent on the length of the
strings which means if length of string is increased then time period will also increase.
If length of string is doubled then time period will be quadrupled (four times).
II. It does not depend upon the mass of the bob.
III. It also depends upon acceleration due to gravity.
Relation between Time-Period and Frequency :
Time period:
The time taken by the pendulum to complete one oscillation is called time period.
SI unit of time period is second (sec).It is generally denoted by ‘T’.
