Insulators: Materials that do not allow the heat energy to pass through them easily are
            called Insulators.

 Plastic, wood, glass, air, water, paper and rubbers are insulators.
 All materials that trap air inside their fibres are excellent insulators like wool, fur, foam and
            feather to make winter clothes.

            Application of conductors:

 Base of cooking utensils are made up of copper as it is good conductor of heat and
results in uniform heating and cooking food.
 Heating rods are made up of metals as it allows heat energy to pass through them

            Application of Insulators:

 Woollen clothes are preferred in winter season because wool is an insulator.
 Two thin blankets keeps us more warm than one thick blanket as it traps more air which
does not allow body heat to escape to surrounding and keeps us warm.
 Igloos present in Polar Regions are made of ice because ice is an insulator who traps heat
and does not allow it escape keeping inside space warm.
 Bakelite is used to make handles of cooking utensils to protect our hands from the heat
while cooking because they are good insulators.
