               Before we begin, let’s understand a little:


                      •John Keats finds nature beautiful in all seasons without excluding the hot
                  1.   summer and cold winter.


                      •The poem 'On the Grasshopper and Cricket' is a symbolic poem.
                 2.

                      •Here, the grasshopper is a symbol of hot summer and the cricket is of very cold
                  3.   winter.


                     Now let’s Read the poem and relate: (Page 11 & 12, first 4 lines) (Reading
                       Activity)
                     While you read please do the following:
                            Underline the difficult words & check with the dictionary
                            Underline the rhyming words & note down in your CW Notebook
                     “The poetry of earth … about the new-mown mead”
                            What does the poet mean by ‘Faint’ with reference to the birds?
                            “…A voice will run…” – what is the poet trying to express?
