L’infinitif après un autre verbe

(The infinitive after another verb)

Some verbs are followed directly by another verb in the infinitive form.
Some of the commonly used verbs which followed by the infinitive are :

Verbes Exemples

1. savoir Je saisjouer au tennis.(I know how to play tennis.

2. aimer Il aime faire du ski.(He is doing skiing)

3. pouvoir Tu peuxaller au cinema.( you are able to go the

cinema hall.)

4. falloir Il faut completer le devoir. ( It is necessary to
complete the homework.)

5. preferer Elle preferer acheter la robe rouge.(He prefers to buy
the red dress.)

6. vouloir Nous voulonsregarder la tele.( we want to watch the

television.)

7. devoir Tu doisfinir le travail.( you must finish the work.)

8. desirer Je desireallerenFrance.(I desire to go to France)

9. faire Elle fait cuire un gateau.(She is going to cook a cake)

10. aller Je vais manger. ( I am going to eat)

Note :falloir (to be necessary). This is an impersonal verb and can
be conjugated only in the II form.
