SUB TOPIC- UPANISHADS
Upanishads means sitting down near the gurus under a tree.
It was written as an answer to several philosophical questions.
It is a text recorded in the form of dialogues.
Most upanishadic thinkers were Brahmins and sages.
One famous women thinker, Gargi is also remembered for her contribution.
SUB TOPIC- JAINISM

This religion was widely spread by the last and 24 Tirthankara,
Vardhamana Mahavira.
He belonged to the Vajji sangha.
Can be categorised into 2 types- Digambaras and Shwetambaras.
He followed a simple doctrine- ‘men and women must leave their homes to
who wished to know the truth’.
Ahimsa or non-violence to be followed.
Followers were called Jainas.
Had to observe celibacy
Not stealing
Non violence
Do not tell a lie
Spread to different parts of north India, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Karnataka.
