(iv) 33.333, 34.001, 89.435 and 41.009 are all like fractions because they all have 3 decimal places.

Convert the following into like decimals:

        (a) 0.91; 10.819; 89.637; 142.8

        Solution:
        0.910; 10.819; 89.637; 142.800
        (b) 12.01; 180.3; 1446.105; 180.19

        Solution:
        12.010; 180.300; 1446.105; 180.190
        (c) 15.13; 2196.1; 18.3; 0.1

        Unlike Decimals:

Unlike decimal fractions can be changed to like decimals by adding as many zeroes as required.

Suppose let us take decimal 14.3, 8.14 and 7.195

        14.3 has 1 decimal place.

        8.14 has 2 decimal places.

        7.195 has 3 decimal places.

If other decimals are also changed into equivalent decimals with 3 decimal places, all of them will
become like decimals with 3 decimal places.

Therefore, 14.300, 8.140 and 7.195 are like decimals.

        Hence we conclude that,

        (i) to find the number of decimal places in the decimal with the largest number of decimal places.

(ii) change the other decimals into their equivalent decimals which have the same number of decimal
places as the decimal with the largest number of decimal places.
