Dispersal by water:
• Seeds dispersed by water are contained
in light fruit, giving them the ability to
float.
• Coconuts are hard but they are well Coconut seed
known for their ability to float on water as
they have a fibrous outer covering to float
and reach land where they can
germinate.
• Similarly, lotus produces lightweight
spongy fruit that can float on water and Lotus seeds
disperse seeds.
