The visible part of the tooth above gums is called crown. The part of the tooth hidden
inside the gums is called the root. The part of the tooth where crown and root meet is
called the neck.

 Enamel: Thehard, outer covering of the tooth is known as enamel.It

protects the tooth from wearing away due to pressure of chewing.
 Dentine: Below the enamel is dentine which gives shape to the tooth.

 Pulp: Inside the dentine is the soft pulp.It lies at the centre of the tooth
and consists of nerves and blood vessels.
