SOURCES OF WATER
Water is a precious natural resource. All living things need water for their
survival.
There are various sources of water. About 97% of the water on the Earth’s
surface is covered with ocean water. (Rest 3% of water is found in the form
of of glaciers and ice etc).
Rain being the major sources of water on the Earth in the form of surface
and groundwater.
Groundwater – The water beneath the surface of the ground, consisting
largely of surface water that has seeped down. This includes water bodies
like Wells and Springs.
Surface water –The water that gets collected on the surface of the ground.
This includes different water bodies like Sea, Oceans, Reservoirs, Rivers,
Streams, Ponds, Lakes and Tanks.
Surface water can also be man-made or artificial sources of water (tanks ,
reservoirs ).
