Fraction of a collection
Learning Objective– Students will be able to learn about fraction of a collection.

               A fraction is represented by:
                                 Number of shaded parts

                                  Total number of equal parts

In 3/8: 3 is written above the line, which is called Numerator.

8 is written below the line, which is called Denominator.

                       Finding fraction of a collection:

                   a) To find half of a collection, divide by 2.

                Example: ½ of 14 = 14 ÷ 2 =7
                Thus, ½ of 14 = 7

                   a) To find one-third of a collection, divide by 3.

                         Example: 1/3 of 33 = 33 ÷ 3 =11
               Thus,1/3 of 33 = 11

                   b) To find quarter of a collection, divide by 4.

                         Example: ¼ of 12 = 12 ÷ 4 = 3
                 Thus, ¼ of 12 = 3

Learning Outcome– Students are able to learn about fraction of collection.
