Indian Currency
Learning objectives: Students will learn to add paisa to make a rupee and expressing money in
figure and words.
Symbol of rupee can be written as ₹.
Paisa is a smaller unit of money than rupee.
100 paise = 1 rupee
There are two ways of writing money.
a) In words
b) In figures
EXAMPLE: ₹ 10 . 50
It is written as ₹ 10 . 50 in figures.
It is written as 10 rupees 50 paise in words.

Rupees Dot Paise
• The dot separates rupees from paise.
• Paise are always written in two digits.
For example:
• 50 paise is written ₹0.50 and 5 paise is written as ₹0.05.
