Learning objective: Students should be able to understand about excretory and
reproductive system.
Excretory System
Every living organism generates waste in its body and has a mechanism to expel it. In
humans, the excretory system takes care of removing the waste from the body. The organs
that are a part of excretory system are kidneys, lungs and the skin.
Every individual has a pair of kidneys which help in cleaning the blood and make urine. The
kidneys do so with the help of ureters and urinary bladder.
Ureters are a pair of thin muscular tubes that carry urine from the kidneys to the urinary
bladder. The urinary bladder is a pouch-like structure. It stores the urine until being passed
out.
The pair of lungs help to remove carbon dioxide from our body. The skin removes excess
water and salt from our body in the form of sweat.
Reproductive System
All living things reproduce their young ones to continue life. The reproductive system helps
living organisms produce babies. Humans give birth to babies, birds lay eggs, dogs give birth
to puppies and etc.
Learning outcome: Students learnt about the organs of excretory system and also
understood about reproductive system.
