Learning objective: Students will be able to know about the different types of nests of birds.

NESTS OF BIRDS

Birds build nest. They use twigs, grass, feathers, cotton, wool leaves and sometimes even
mud to build their nest. The nest is very important for the birds.

1. It keeps them safe from bad weather.
2. It protects them from enemies such as snakes and bird or prey.
3. Birds lay their eggs in nest.
Different birds have different kinds of nests.

1. Nest in holes – Wood pecker makes its nest in the tree trunks in the form of a hole.
2. Nest on rocks – Eagles make nests on rocks or on the higher branches of tall trees.
These nests are called eyries.
3. Woven nest – A weaver bird builds its nest using grass and twigs. It uses its beak to
weave.
