Learning objectives: Students will be able to know about, the process of water cycle.
Water Cycle
In nature too, the forms of water keep changing. When sun rays fall on rivers, oceans, ponds
and lakes, they make the water warm. Thus, the water changes into water vapour. This is
called evaporation. The water vapour rises up in the air and come in contact with the cool
air high above in the atmosphere. They form tiny water droplets. This is called
condensation. The tiny water droplets in the air join to form clouds. Slowly, the water
droplets get heavy and the clouds cannot hold them any longer. Thus, they fall down as rain.
This is called precipitation. The rainwater flows back into the rivers, lakes, ponds and
oceans. In some places, the climate is extremely cold. Hence, the water droplets in the
clouds freeze and fall down as snow. This continuous process in which water keeps changing
from one form to another is called water cycle.
Learning outcome: Students learned about the water cycle and the processes involved in it.
