Seasons
A season is the period during which the weather remains almost the same for many days. In
India, we see five different seasons – summer, winter, rainy, spring and autumn. We wear
different kinds of clothes in different seasons. The seasons also affects the kind of food we
eat and the activities we do.
Summer season: In summer, the weather is very hot. We like to stay indoors most of the
time. We use room coolers and air conditioners to save ourselves from the heat. Days are
long while nights are short, Hot winds, known as heat waves, blow in some places. People
generally wear cotton clothes in summer. These keep us cool. Summer brings sweet, juicy
fruits such as mangoes, litchi, and watermelons for us.
Winter Season: In winter the weather becomes cold. Sometimes there is snowfall on the
mountains. Days are short and nights are long. We wear woollen clothes to keep ourselves
warm. We get fruits such as oranges and grapes in winter.
Learning Outcome: Students learned about the meaning of season and about summer and
winter season.
