Learning Objective: Students will know about the movement of the Earth – rotation.
Movement of the Earth - Rotation
The earth moves constantly. The Earth shows two types of movements – Rotation and
Revolution. We shall learn about rotation. The Earth also spins like this ball. It spins around
an imaginary line running from the North pole to South pole. This line is called its axis. The
spinning movement of the Earth on its axis is called rotation. The Earth spins from west to
east and its axis is slightly tilted. The rotation of the Earth causes day and night. The Earth
completes one rotation on axis in 24 hours. So, one day and one night are of 24 hours.
Learning Outcome: Students learnt about rotation and its effect.
