• People earlier believed that the Earth was

flat.

• Some adventurous sailors like Ferdinand

Magellan took off on a journey around the

globe.

• They went on and on and reached the

same point from where they had started.

• Hence, it was proved that the Earth is

round.

• The top and bottom ends of the Earth are

called poles.

• Top is North pole and bottom is South

pole.
