HELPING VERBS (HAVE, HAS, HAD, DO, DOES AND DID)
Learning Objective: Children will learn the use of helping verbs like
(have,has,had.do,does and did) in sentences.
TO DO - Present Tense - (Do / Does)
The present tense of TO DO is:
I / you / we / they - DO
he / she / it - DOES
I do my laundry on Saturdays.
He does nothing all day.
TO DO - Past Tense - (Did)
The past tense of DO is DID for all subjects:
I / you / we / they / he / she / it - DID
I did my homework in record time.
We did everything we could to help.
In the present perfect, the auxiliary verb is always have (for I, you, we, they) or has (for
he, she, it).
In the past perfect, the auxiliary verb is always had.
We use have had in the present perfect when the main verb is also “have”:
I’m not feeling well. I have had a headache all day.
She has had three children in the past five years.
Learning Outcome:Children were able to use the helping verbs correctly in their
sentences.
