Homophones

Learning objective- Students will learn about what homophones are and the different
types of homophones that there are.

A homophone is a word that is pronounced the same as another word but differs in
meaning. A homophone may also differ in spelling. The two words may be spelled the
same, such as rose and rose, or differently, such as carat, and carrot, or to, two, and
        too.

We see many examples of homophones in the English language.

        Here are some common ones-

Bat- The animal -------- Bat- A sports equipment used to play cricket.

Rose- The flower ----------- Rose- To get up after falling down.

        Let’s use them in sentences.

        Right – Right

        I’m sure I’m right.

Take a right turn at the intersection.

        Fly – Fly

A fly was buzzing against the window.

        Let’s fly a kite.

Learning outcome- Students are now able to identify what homophones are and use

        them correctly in writing.
