Feminine Nouns- formation

There are 3 ways of forming Feminine nouns:

1. Using entirely different word like:

 father – mother

 King – Queen

2. By adding a syllable –ess to the Masculine gender:

 Lion – lioness

 shepherd- shepherdess

By adding – ess after dropping the vowel of the

masculine gender:

 actor – actress

 hunter- huntress
