Let us go shopping:
Learning objective: Students will be able to find the total price of item /
items and work out the change.
When we buy more than one thing, we need to add together the cost of
things we buy to find the total cost.
To buy things we need to have the exact money to pay for them. If we
do not have the exact amount, we can pay a higher amount. The
shopkeeper will then give back the change after subtracting the cost of
the things brought.
Example:
Cost of a football= ₹ 200
Cost of teddy bear = ₹ 299
Total cost of both the items = ₹ 200 + ₹ 299 = ₹499
Money paid = ₹ 500
Shopkeeper returned = ₹500 - ₹ 499= ₹ 1
Example 2: Rajesh bought a cake of ₹ 25 , a coke of ₹ 13 and
a burger of ₹ 30 . He gave a note of ₹ 100 to the shopkeeper.
How much change did he get?
Solution: Amount given to the shopkeeper = ₹ 100
