Identify and calculate money:

Learning objective: Students will be able to find different
denominations of coins and notes to make an amount and write it in words.

 Money is a medium to buy things.
 Notes – printed on paper.

 Coins – printed on metal.
 Rupees and paise are separated by a dot.

 Paisa is always written as a 2 – digit number.

 Role of money in Mathematics: Like everywhere else, Maths has very

great use and importance in the field of money and money related
problems. We use it while shopping, while calculating bills, while
receiving money from someone or giving money to someone.

Thus Maths and money are inter- related to each other and we need
both of them in our daily life.

Calculation of money:
Let’s learn through some examples-

Example-1
25p +25p+ 25p +25p =100 p = ₹ 1

Example-2

50p + 50p = 100p = ₹ 1
