Half past, Quarter past and Quarter to:
Learning objective: Students will be able to read time in Half past, Quarter
past and Quarter to.
There are a few different ways to say what time it is.
When it's 12:00, we say it's twelve o'clock.
When it's 12:30, we can say it's half-past twelve.
Half-past twelve is a short way of saying it's half an hour (30
minutes) after 12:00.The minute hand moves halfway around the
clock. It looks like half of a circle. At Half past, the minute hand
always points to the 6.
Example: 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 can all be described as half past 1, half
past 2, and half past 3.
When it's 12:15, we can say that it's a quarter past twelve. Quarter
past twelve is a short way of saying it's a quarter of an hour (15
minutes) after 12:00.
At Quarter past, the minute hand always points to the 3.
