Introduction to measuring capacity (Standard units):
Learning objective: Students will be able to measure capacity using
Standard units of measurement.
Liquids as we all know have no regular shape. So, we calculate
their volume by the capacity of the container they are held in.
The standard units of measuring capacity are Litres and Milliliters.
Litre is written as “l” and millilitre is written as “ml”.
We measure large quantities in litres. We use liters when
measuring the volume of large amounts of liquid such as:
- A bottle of unhealthy sugar water is 1 L.
- A bucket holds 10 L of water.
- A swimming pool holds 375,000 L of water.
