P. 6
Each number has a place value. It determines the value of that digit according
to its position in the number. First we read the number in hundreds place then
we move to the tens place and at the end we write the number in ones place.
Standard form is writing a number out in digits.
Example: 1 hundred + 3 Tens + 4 Ones – 134
Learning outcome: Students were able to represent the given number up to a place
value of 999 using standard form and expanded form.
LP 6 – Comparison of numbers
Learning Objective: Students will be able to identify the place value of each
digit and hence compare numbers using greater than, less than and equal to
symbols.
• We compare two numbers to see which is bigger or smaller. We use the
sign <, > and = for comparing numbers.
• While comparing numbers with more than 1 digit, we start from the digits at
the highest place value and compare them.
