Learning objective: The students will be able recognize the present
continuous tense and use it in a sentence.
Present continuous tense is used when we refer to actions that are
happening or going on right now.
For example – I am writing a letter now.
• Present continuous tense is formed by adding -
‘Is’, ‘am’ or ‘are’ + verb + ing
For example –
She is singing.
I am waiting for the train.
They are jumping.
• The verb ‘is’ is used with a singular noun and pronoun in the
sentence.
For example –
He is playing with his brother.
• The verb ‘am’ is used with the pronoun ‘I’.
For example –
I am going to my school.
• The verb ‘are’ is used with a plural noun or pronoun and the singular
‘you’ in a sentence.
For example –
You are helping your mother in the kitchen.
They are playing football.
Learning outcome: The students were able to recognize the present
continuous tense and used it in a sentence.
