Do all the verbs show action?
Answer: No. The verbs ‘Am, are, were, was, will be, has, is, have, had’ do
not show any action. These verbs are called helping verbs. Some of these
helping verbs, that is – is, am, are, was, were come from the verb to be.

               For example – I am a student.
                                       It was a rainy day.

The verbs ‘is’ & ‘was’ are used with a singular noun or pronoun
               in a sentence.
For example – He was a doctor.
                                                                             The zoo was crowded.

The verbs ‘are’ and ‘were’ are used with a plural noun or pronoun and the
               singular you in a sentence.

For example – There are beautiful flowers in the garden.
We were in our party dress.
                                        You are my friend.
The verb ‘am’ is used with the pronoun ‘I’.
For example – I am Ricky.
                                       I am an artist.
