So, let’s have a quick recap
Verbs like is, am, are, was, were are known as linking
verbs/helping verbs. They link the subject of a sentence to an
adjective or noun.
“am” is used when your subject is “I” and in present tense.
Example: I am an intelligent boy.
“is” is used when your subject is a singular noun, he, she, or it
and in present tense. Example: It is an interesting story.
“are” is used when your subject is plural noun, we, you, or they
and in present tense. Example: You are my best friend.
“was” is used when your subject is singular noun, he, she, or it
and in past tense. Example: Yesterday, she was running late for
her school.
“were” is used when your subject is plural noun, we, you, or
they in past tense. Example: We were enjoying the match last
night.
