The words ‘a’, ‘an’ and ‘the’ which are used to point out the noun are

called Articles.

‘A’ is used before a word that begins with a consonant sound.

‘An’ is used before a word that begins with a vowel sound.

‘The’ is used to introduce singular as well as plural nouns.

We also use ‘The’ with Rivers, Mountain Ranges, Seas and

oceans, Famous buildings and monuments and Holy books.
