Common nouns name any person, place, thing or animal. They are
not written in capital letters unless they come at the beginning of a
sentence.
Example: This is a boy. (End of the sentence so it is beginning with
small letter “b”)
Boy is playing. (Beginning of the sentence so it is beginning with
capital letter “B”)
Proper nouns are the names of specific people, places, things or
animals. They should always begin with capital letter.
Example: I live in India. (Proper noun will always begin with capital
letter)
