Metaphase I:
Spindle formation is completed. The chromosomes align on the equatorial plate. The
microtubules from the spindle attach to the pair of homologous chromosomes.

Anaphase I:
The homologous chromosomes separate, while sister chromatids remain associated at
their centromeres.
