               HOME ASSIGNMENT-3

SUBTOPIC : Area of the Triangle

                   1. Show that the point P( - 4 , 2) lies on the line segment joining the points A( - 4 , 6) and B
                       ( - 4 , - 6).
                   2. For what value of x will the points (x, -1), (2, 1) and (4, 5) lie on a line?

                   3. Find the centroid of the triangle whose vertices are given as:(4, -5), (8 , -7), (4, 13).
                   4. The coordinates of the vertices of ABC are A(4, 1), B (-3,2) and C (0, k). Given that the

area of ABC is 12 unit , find the value of k.
                   5. (2, -2), (8, 10) and (5, 5) are the mid-points of the sides of a triangle. Find vertices.
                   6. The area of a triangle is 5 square units. Two of its vertices are (2,1) and (3, - 2). The third
                       vertex lies on y – x + 3 = 0. Find the third vertex.

                   7. If the points A(x,y), B(a,0), C(0,b) are collinear, prove + = 1.
