Versatile nature of Carbon
Carbon is a versatile element and is found in many different chemical
compounds, including those found in space.
A Versatile element is an element whose atom has the capability of
combining with many other elements.
This can be achieved when an atom has tetravalency that is valency of 4 like
carbon & silicon.
Carbon atoms make bonds with multiple other elements at the same time,
with monovalent or divalent atoms.
Carbon is versatile because it can form single, double, and triple bonds.
It can also form chains, branched chains, and rings when connected.
The two properties that give rise to the unique nature of carbon to form a
large number of compounds are:
