               During the reaction of ethanoic acid with metal carbonates or bi-carbonates, carbon
               dioxide gas is liberated.
               We can test for the liberation of carbon dioxide gas, using Lime water test.




















                     Test for release of CO2 gas by Lime water test-

               When CO2 gas is passed through lime water, it turns milky due to the formationof
               insoluble calcium carbonate which is a milky white precipitate..
