P. 2

 In this method we add a 2-digit number and a single-digit

number mentally or without crossing to the next ten, such

                        as 35 + 4 or 61 + 5. They add "within" the same ten.

                              + + +

                                         = 12 + 7 = 19 =
                     25 + 34 +
                                   3 28 4 38
                                                     Add 2 + 7 first.

                    Add 5 + 3 first. The ten does not Add 4 + 4 first.
The 2 tens do not change. The 3 tens do not

                          change. change.

 We also learn to write them under tens and ones if adding

                       vertically.

                    Ex: 65+3= 68

                        Tens Ones
                          6 5

                       + 3
                           6 8

As 3 is a single digit number it is written under ones and
65 is written under tens and ones.

Learning outcome- Students are able add 2 digit numbers

without carryover under tens and ones.
