               SUB –TOPIC : 1INTRODUTION :TYPES OF MOTION

               NOTES:

               There are two types of motion:


               1.ROTATION:


                     Movement of Earth around it’s  own axis is known as Rotation.
                     It takes 24 hours or a day to complete one rotation around it’s axis
                     The period of rotation is known as the Earthday.
                     This is also called daily motion of Earth.

               AXIS OF EARTH

                     It is an imaginary line.
                     It makes an angle of 661/2° with orbital plane.
                     Orbital plane is the plain formed by Earth’s orbit.

               CIRCLE OF ILLUMINATION
                     The circle that separates the lighted part of Earth from darkened part.
                     It doesn’t coincide with Axis.













               2.REVOLUTION:

                     Movement of earth around Sun in a fixed path is known as Revolution.
                     It takes about 3651/4 days to complete one revolution around Sun.
                     Earth goes around Sun in an elliptical orbit.
