CHAPTER-7: FRACTIONS
SUBTOPIC: COMPARING FRACTIONS (LIKE AND UNLIKE FRACTION)
COMPARING LIKE FRACTIONS:
In comparing like fractions, it is always easy to compare two or more because their
denominators are same.
To compare two like fractions it is just enough to compare their numerators. If there are
two like fractions, then the fraction with greater numerator is greater.
EXAMPLE:
COMPARING UNLIKE FRACTIONS:
STEP 1- Determine whether or not the fractions have the same denominator. For
example, the fractions 5/7 and 9/13 do not have the same denominator, because 7 does
not equal 13.
STEP 2- Find a common denominator for the fractions. Since we're just comparing the
fractions, we can just multiply the denominators of both fractions to find the common
denominator.
