SUBJECT- CHEMISTRY
TOPIC –SEPARATION OF SUBSTANCES
SUB-TOPIC- SOLUBILITY AND SOLUTIONS, WATER- A UNIVERSAL
SOLVENT
CLASSROOM ACTIVITY
EXPERIMENT: - To understand different types of solutions (unsaturated, saturated &
super saturated) by using water and salt/sugar.
Materials Required:
4 glass beakers having 500ml capacity, Salt/sugar, spirit lamp, tripod stand, wire
gauge, spoon, water etc.
Observation:
Students will observe the solubility of salt/sugar with normal temperature, increasing
temperature and also understand its insolubility even with increasing in temperature
with given quantity of solvent.
Inference:
Solution with maximum solubility of solute with normal temperature is unsaturated
solution.
Solution in which no more solute can dissolve with normal temperature is called
saturated solution.
